Jerome Powell is the 16th Chairperson of US Federal Reserves, serving in the office since 5th February 2018. He was selected by the American President Donald Trump and confirmed by the US Senate. Jerome Powell was born on 4th February 1953 in Washington DC. In 1972, he graduated from Jesuit University-preparatory School. In 1975 he received degree in Bachelor of Arts in politics from Princeton University. He also earned degree of Juris Doctor Georgetown University Law Centre, where he also worked as an editor in chief Georgetown Law Journal.
Jerome Powell moved to the field of investment banking and worked for many financial institutions. In 1992, under the President George H. W. Bush, he served as Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance. In December 2011, Jerome Powell along with Jeremy C. Stein was nominated to Federal Reserve Board of Governors by American President Barack Obama. He attended the office Federal Reserves on 25th May 2012. In June 2014, Jerome Powell was nominated again and confirmed by the United State Senate for term of 14 years ending on January 31st 2028. Jerome Powell has been called as both a monetary policy dove and a neutral, and also a skeptic of qualitative easing.
